AmazonSmile

AmazonSmile is a simple and automatic way for you to support BSLC every time you shop, at no cost to you. When you shop at smile.amazon.com, you’ll find the exact same prices and selection as Amazon.com, with the added bonus that Amazon will donate a portion of the purchase price. On your first visit to AmazonSmile, you need to select the Bi-State Literacy Council to receive donations from eligible purchases before you begin shopping. After that, every eligible purchase you make at smile.amazon.com will result in a donation of 0.5% of the purchase price from your eligible AmazonSmile purchases. The Council receives a quarterly donation from AmazonSmile purchases.

United Way

We also have loyal supporters who designate the Bi-State Literacy Council as the recipient of their regular United Way contributions. The Council receives a quarterly donation from United Way for those designated contributions.

Giving Tuesday

Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.), and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday. #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season when many people are focusing on their holiday and end-of-year giving.

Since 2012, people from all over the world have given over $1 Billion to causes on #GivingTuesday. #GivingTuesday has become a movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy.

The Bi-State Literacy Council accepts donations via a Facebook Giving Tuesday event.

For those who would like to support the Council as part of their end-of-year philanthropy, please follow our Facebook page to be informed of our Giving Tuesday fundraiser kick off!

Annual Trivia Night Fundraiser

The Council hosts an annual fundraiser each year. The primary focus of the night is trivia but this event also includes cash prizes, silent auctions, raffles, 50/50, and so much more!

Proceeds raised at this event are used to provide semi-annual grants to area literacy providers, awards to literacy volunteers, in addition to providing professional development grants to literacy professionals.

Birdies for Charity

The annual fundraising event in conjunction with the John Deere Classic PGA Tournament in the Quad Cities is a great way to support the Council. Not only does 100% of your contribution go to the Council, but the Birdies for Charity Fund also provides a matching contribution to each participating charity, guaranteed to be at least 5% up to 10% depending on tournament revenues.

Endowment

The Bi-State Literacy Council has an endowment fund at the Quad Cities Community Foundation.  These funds are earmarked to sustain the Council's activities and increase future support to literacy programs in the six counties the Council serves.  Please consider giving a gift to the Council via the Community Foundation, directing your gift to the Bi-State Literacy Council endowment.

All donations are tax-deductible!
