Leading the challenge to overcome illiteracy in all of its forms through advocacy, education, awareness,
Our Core Values
Literacies – we believe that literacy in all its forms is a lifelong activity essential to the continuing growth and development of both individuals and the communities in which they live.
Empowerment – we believe literacy empowers individuals to develop the knowledge, skills, and self-esteem needed to achieve their full potential.
Advocacy – we believe the Council is charged with speaking out and working for a broad array of literacy programs and services for all people.
Diversity – we believe that all individuals are entitled to diverse opportunities to meet their respective literacy needs.
Community – we believe in the power of collaboration to mobilize existing community resources and to create new ones in order to assess community needs. This allows us to isolate barriers, form robust partnerships, and craft accurate solutions in order to provide a spectrum of literacy services.
