Grants, Awards and Scholarships

One of the purposes of the Bi-State Literacy council is to support and encourage the development of supportive services for people with literacy needs. One way the Council does that is through Grants, Awards and Scholarships.

Grants

When funds are available, requests for literacy support services grant funding may be submitted through any of the current board members or mailed to the Council. Approved requests will be funded shortly after the respective Board Meeting

Funding requests are due:
By October 31 for consideration at the November Board Meeting

By March 31 for consideration at the April Board Meeting

Awards and Scholarships
At its spring Recognition Breakfast , the Council presents awards to individuals and businesses to recognize their accomplishments or contributions in the fight against illiteracy. The Council also awards scholarships to literacy students. Nominations for awards and scholarship are sought each spring and are due by April 15 each year.

Quick facts about Bi-State Literacy Council

The Bi-State Literacy Council is celebrating its 20 th year in 2008.

It was incorporated as a non-profit organization in the State of Iowa in 1988.

The Bi-State Literacy Council serves the six counties of Scott, Clinton and Muscatine counties in Iowa, and Rock Island, Henry and Mercer counties in Illinois.
