| Lights ON programs can be
located in elementary, junior highs and high school facilities. There have
been eighteen Lights ON schools, seventeen are currently active.
Four school districts are currently involved: East Moline, Moline,
Rock Island and UTHS.

Eligible students must be
an attendee of the school or live in the neighborhood the school serves.
Students may be referred by teachers or their parents.

General
information about Lights ON
The Lights ON for Learning
Community Learning Centers network is a partnership between the Rock Island
County Regional Office of Education (RIROE), the Rock Island County school
districts, and community partners offering learning opportunities beyond
regular school hours in designated school facilities.
A Lights ON Advisory Council
consisting of representatives from the participating schools and community
partners facilitated by the RIROE Project Director meets regularly to discuss
the sharing of resources and on-going support of programs. Each Lights
ON school also has an identified Site Coordinators who serves as the liaison
between the school and community. The Lights ON Site Coordinators
also meet regularly as a group.
The Lights ON program is
funded by Federal 21st Century Community Learning Centers grants and Title
I funds.The program submits Annual Performance Reports to the Illinois
State Board of Education (ISBE) and contracts with Augustana College to
conduct on-going evaluation. |
